My name is Justine, and my pronouns are she/her. I’m originally from the territory of the Kanien’kehà:ka (Montreal), I grew up on the lower mainland, and I currently live on the territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ nations. I am in the final year of my undergrad studying French with the hopes of becoming a secondary French immersion teacher. I am currently planning on doing a masters on (broadly) linguistic insecurity amongst the francophone communities in Victoria. I’m looking forward to working with all of you this semester!

A couple facts about me:

I originally came to UVic to study sciences with the hopes of becoming a nurse. I lasted half a semester and ended up on academic probation. I started taking French classes as GPA boosters because it’s my first language and I ended up really enjoying it. Four years later, I’m loving my classes and I could not imagine what would’ve happened if I had stayed in sciences.

I have spent the last year quite isolated, so I recently adopted a senior deaf cat who I renamed Echo. He loves going for walks at night and we often drive somewhere for him to explore new places. He is the chilliest cat I’ve ever met, and I am convinced he’s part dog. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
